Migrant Forum in Asia

Background

MFA is a regional network of non-government organizations (NGOs), associations and trade unions of migrant workers, and individual advocates in Asia who are committed to protect and promote the rights and welfare of migrant workers. It is guided by a vision of an alternative world system based on respect for human rights and dignity, social justice, and gender equity, particularly for migrant workers.
 

Key Initiatives:

Recruitment Reform

Is a global campaign led by MFA that looks at the realities and issues on labour migration and recruitment with the aim of proposing alternatives address these concerns. Through this campaign MFA works in collaboration with migrant grassroots organizations, trade unions, international institutions such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to advocate for fair and ethical recruitment.

#OurHands Campaign

The #OurHands campaign aims to inform domestic workers of their rights as enshrined in ILO Convention 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers. The campaign aims to reach to domestic workers across through social media and encourage them to share know-your-rights materials with other domestic workers who do not have access to social media.

Step It Up

Step It Up: Dignity, Rights, Development is the global campaign launched by the Migrant Forum in Asia network and affiliated civil society organizations, trade unions, the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families, and the International Labour Organization, which highlights the significance of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW / UN Migrant Workers Convention).

#WHATSUPport

#WHATSUPport is a campaign spreading awareness on support systems for migrant workers through its Facebook group on social media and through infographics developed containing the available support systems offered for migrant workers in their countries of origin and destination.
